#colourmehappy
Yesterday saw the Colour Run arrive in Brighton and the seafront was awash with people covered in various hues of orange, blue, green and yellow, with a dash of glitter! Tutus, wedding dresses and a few superhero outfits were also in evidence, but mainly everyone was grinning.
This being Brighton my walk along the seafront to the start line, looking slightly like the tin man with my thick, god-daughter applied layer of silver glitter didn’t raise an eyebrow!
The Colour Run is billed a the ‘happiest 5k on the planet’ and it made me realise that a bit of colour and some happy/cheesy music can make a 5k go really fast.
I have had the same old running playlist on my phone for ages, and much as I love some of the tunes, it probably is a bit serious, so I have made up a new one. It is undeniably a bit cheesy, probably some highly dubious tracks as well, but all of them give me a smile or bring back a daft memory.
As the temperature drops and a morning run is likely to start in the dark, having some music to make you feel happy is a fantastic way to keep that motivation going and make the runs go faster.
For anyone thinking of The Colour Run next year there are loads of photos of the fun and frolics on their website, but a big thanks to Darren Menezes for the main picture I have used, see more of his work here.

This is the playlist I have made for the autumn to keep me grinning inanely and running. Feel free to let it inspire you to listen to some good old fun music. Links to all the tracks are below too.
